Me he estado informando un poco.

I think our Spanish friends are sad because that load of rubble was where the festival was supposed to be... and that there is no place to park your vehicle, nor anywhere for buses to go (how are they going to drive on all that lot?)

Something worries me about how this is all going to end up.

I was recently chatting to a young lady at my work who used to live in Spain and she told me the "Medio Ambimente" (Environment Ministry) don't or didn't have much "cojones" (balls) compared even to Great Britain! They very rarely have the money or resources to push forward "eco projects" nor do they make developers comply strongly to EU environmental protection rules.

But holes don't dig themselves and people what work diggers don't work for free.

it is therefore strange, that the authorities of a country in the middle of a big recession and which wasn't exactly run by Greens suddenly find lots of €€€ to pay for this so-called "environmental protection" work... I don't know the full history of the ciggarones area, but something has occured down there what has really pissed off people with a lot of power. TBH I doubt its just the festival, whatever has been going on that site has divided the community enough for all this to happen.

Perhaps some of you who are posting in Spanish would care to explain to the English here exactly what is going on?

unfortunately its unlikely to result in much of a party given how far things have gone, and it might be advisable (for English people) not to spend hundreds of Euros travelling to what is now a building-site if they just want a "party" (unless they want to take part in some form of political protest against what has happened...)

basically Matagringajos (translated kill foreigners) is a racists, nationalists who, in his own words, would like to help the police batter the hippies at the dragon festival and bury them in the holes. I'm not exaggerating.

Matagringajos deserves no attention. It's better to ignore that type of lunacy then try to challenge it.

FIIIIIEEESSSSTA

Hola a todos:

Yo kiero fiesta no guerra.

Paz y amor. Renovarse o morir.

basically there are saying that they don't like to go to a place wich is so little and is not in good condition for the party. The dragon this year looks like a battlefield, and they want to go to a party no to the war. The question is if it is possible to go to other place en spain with the festival.
Sorry for my english, i hope that I can help you
