small speakers on bigger amp?

well, i got a new another amp today (kam kxr1000) its 500rms a side into 4 ohms... but i dont have the speakers that will be used with it at my place.

im wondering if its ok to just quickly test run the amp to see if both channels work and all that with some 150rms @ 4 ohms speakers? or will that kill them?

cheers :0

yeah, it should be fine if you don't crank it up too high. you *will* damage the speakers, and could damage the amp. quality out of the audio might be a bit better than usual, depending on the usual amp you use.

, no, im not sure what to build first, the double 10 mid top, or the 12v. ive got 200 cash next thursday, so enuff to build either the midtop or a 12v. ive just ordered 40 quids worth of grills etc, but .. meh i dunno wot to buy haha, i think maybe the 12v can wait till next summer since its predominantly gunna b used for portable partying around the town on fridays/ saturdays, so weather is important.

i wanna go forward with the rig.

mid + top it is.

i think. ;)

firstly i want a pair of double 10" loaded mids, just a standard box cab, no ports. Will use either eminence beta / delta for that.

then i want some top boxes. dont know what comp drivers i will use yet. they will b horn flares and a couple of piezos for good crappiness measure.

once ive got some experience ill be building a pair of G subs.

maybe one day , looney bins!
