Have you used VSTi's before with Cubase? If so it's exactly the same process. If you haven't, post back here and I'll explain how to use VSTi's with Cubase.

Well, for starters you should make sure you install audio realism bassline to your Cubase VST folder. It will usually install in there by default but just make sure.

Boot up cubase and then open the VST instruments window (In devices)

Select Audio Realism Bassline in one of the slots.

On one of the Midi channels on the sequencer select Audio Realism Bassline on the midi out section.

You should then be able to use ARBassline, either by using a midi controller to play notes etc. Or draw in a section on the sequencer (with the pen/pencil) tool then double click on it to open up the Piano Roll and draw notes in.

Pull up the vsti either from the VST Instruments window or by clicking the little synth icon on the channel/track and then play with the settings to your hearts content. I can't really tell you much about how to use ARbassline as I've only used it briefly. I prefer D16's Phoscyon.

I hope that helps. It's all off the top of my head because I'm not on the machine with Cubase on to look at step by step.

While you're on the subject of VST's have you used / have any opinion on the new VST 3.0 upgrade in Cubase? I only use ableton at the mo but am considering other DAWs for rewire.

The recent Pro tools 8 looks like a good un especially the new notation tool

I've used neither Abelton or Logic (not since about 10 years ago anyway) so I suppose I'm not in a position to compare. I haven't got the VST 3 upgrade on SX3 either but I've heard that some plugs aren't happy working in VST3 if they aren't coded correctly.

Can't be much more help than that, sorry.

Thanks for the reply. Based on your compatability feedback i think i'll wait until it gets debugged. (Ableton 7 is on version 14 now and there are still some VST issues making their use a bit risky in a live setting )
