What the bloody ell is wrong with my turntable?!?!

Got ma decks goin the other day but one of ma turntables isnt doin anythin. It turns on and spins round and all that malarky but it doesnt make a noise. Theres a very very slight signal to the headphones but you can hardly hear it at all. I've swapped cables, swapped needles and swapped what side of the mixer its comin out of but its still not workin. Can anyone think of what it might be and how I could get it sorted?
Cheers

what make are these decks?

the signal lead from the cartridge to your mixer is the most likely suspect here.

are you using "normal" cartridges (i.e ones what have a fiddly little set of connections at the back) or ortfofon concord types (where its all in one unit?)

if you're lucky this is just a loose connection at the headshell (try taking if off and putting it back on, or using a known good headshell).

if you are unlucky the wiring inside the tonearm is bad. This is repairable, but a fiddly job.

Yeh I were hopin it were summat to do with the arm coz I can't be arsed with it bein inside the actual tunrntable coz I haven't got any money at all to repair it and I know fuck all about how it all works inside. I know how the needle reads the grooves n stuff but I know nowt about the actual insides.
