this is what i thought - also, the fact that its in every major newspaper, in fact, BBC has a few frontpage stories to do with cannabis, shows its a popular question.. and its not getting much of a negative view by the press either - and they just put out a popular story.. so this is a popular view

cannabis use is unbelievably widespread and tolerated in the states

when i was over there on tour everyone was smoking weed everywhere, the worst that happened is one club asked us to go outside to toke on our bongs

unfortunately the local "anti-drugs do gooders" are still trotting out the hardline here..

Cannabis: Charity's fears over effect of drug - Evening Star 24

That said, I don't think most young people of EA what are having otherwise decent lifes are actually having any real problems with cannabis or any other drug (even ketamine) as they aren't stupid and know where to stop.

The real reason youths are getting into trouble with drugs is that there is often fuck all hope for a lot of them and they dont' feel they can achieve anything lasting in life.. (not everyone is as brainy as chaps like josh or has such a supportive network of friends and family - if they were there wouldn't be that news report)
