Presentation ideas pwease =)

i've got to do a 5 minute straight presentation infront of my class next week for my college course.

it has to be science based, rather interesting and my tutor gave me the hint of using 'lots of pictures and photographs'

i'm kinda baffeled on what to do it on, i am a incredibily NERVOUS person when it comes to talking to groups of people so anything that will kind of flow and get over with will be good for me.

i was thinking an idea of doing something about music, how everybody has a taste in music, how it effects us and why it is soo pleasing? but like i said im not really to sure where to start or what to start on.

any help will be greatly appriciated, thank you.

Presenting is easy really - you just got to be well prepared. If you know what you are talking about then you just chat with your audience for 5 mins and it's done.

If you want to do your project on music you could talk about how sound waves travel through the air, into the ear, are converted into electrical energy in the inner ear and then interpreted, understood and enjoyed by complex stuff that goes on in the brain. It's scientific and there should be plenty of pictures of brains, ears and trees falling down in the woods to keep your presentation sparky.

Hints - stik to one colour scheme and keep it simple with a good strong contrast between text and background. DO NOT READ YOUR SCRIPT but make notes and wing it on the day. You should try to get everything you need to say on teh slides down to a maximum of 5 bullet points with 5 words each (too much text os boring). DON'T use crappy animations and sounds, just keep it professional.

Make sure you know your stuff before you get into the room and I can't stress this enough - PREPAREPREPAREPREPAREPREPAREPREPAREPREPARE!

Personally I write out everything I want to say, then copy and paste the basic points into a powerpoint presentation (as Tek says 5 odd points per slide). Add some pretty pictures and diagrams and hey presto!

I then re-read what ever I've written loads of times until I know it- take a few notes into the presentation to jog the memory and wing it!

Definitely prepare as much as possible!!! The more you know your stuff the more confident you'll be.

What's the course you have to do it for? There's no point in doing a science presentation on stuff you don't know.
