Yes, I love guitar hero. My wife spent months giving me very strange looks as I pranced around the front room thinking I was in Metalica. But once she picked up the guitar she was hooked to the point where she brought rock band.

Now we rock even harder with our fischer price instuments

although not my favourite game, its a definate buy.

@ Coastie

I saw friends completly uninterested in playing anything to really enjoying the feeling of making something happen ... just like any person who plays an instrument.

I think thats a great thing, a miracle cant make them play and be interested in the the real thing but if a comp game gets 'em up off of the sofa and larking about then i fully back it.

Maybe, but I think if people are spending their whole life sat on the sofa, and it takes something like guitar hero to get them up, then its a very poor state of affairs. There are a million and one things that are infinately cooler and more inspiring in the world!

I totally agree mate, but to be honest i think that really the way it is unless a kid goes to school and picks up and instrument but frankly from experience being in the swing band doesnt get what they call ''street cred''

i really back kids, teenagers and even adults to pick up an instrument but its seemingly becoming a loosing battle.

trust me mate you sound like me!

In my opinion it takes something like one of my housemates does, going to youth clubs and telling 'em that playing instruments and other things alike can be top banana, but then showing them and turning it into a communal effort.

Its all about education.

Yes there are lots of other cool thing to do in the world and I take part in alot of them.

isn't it rather expensive for a computer game due to the requirement to purchase lots of peripherals?

I guess, worse for 'Rock Band' though ...

you can still play it without a guitar i do believe, its just not as good ...
