Last Night was an A1, tip-top, clubbing, jam fair. It was a sandwich of fun, on ecstasy bread, wrapped up in a big bag like disco fudge. It doesn't get much better than that. I just wish that I could control these *fucking mood swings!*

welcome back :)

scenes totally changed down here, Norfolk got locked down earlier this year, very few rigs are daring to come out (most have been confiscated TBH) and now people are going back to legal events and hall parties but only in North Norfolk as no one else will allow them

I think some LA crews plug their events on our forum now and then...

the "something now and again" are usually legal events or very small scale things in places where they have permission to be (like family farms belonging to friends).

because the Muslim community here are moderate and don't cause any trouble, and there has been a spate of wannabe rude boys and idiots doing parties in the wrong areas for the wrong reasons, all the money for anti terrorism has been used to stop parties. All the youths bragging on bebo and pretending they are london gangster youths didn't help either.

Now a local MP is even working with the cops and even MPs in other opposition political parties to get the laws tightened up, not just for Norfolk but the whole of England and Wales!

that is true, but i saw something on the news today about how police forces wanted to have autonomy, so as to be able to make their own decisions about how to enforce the law. So hopefully that should mean that so long as relationships with the cops are alright up north then they should leave us alone regardless of what happens in the rest of the country. fingers crossed anyway.

police forces already have a considerable amount of autonomy, and it took them nearly 10 years to actually use some parts of the CJA..

actually a lot of the cops (even Suffolk) don't want to close down raves harshly. They are only doing so because of intense lobbying from the locals near where events have repeatedly happened, and the parents of kids who have got addicted to drugs.

I think there may have been some tiny shindigs but maybe only 50 or so people in very remote areas (East Anglia is big after all) and they all know one another to avoid security risks... a lot of the suffolk lot don't go out as much because of the rise in petrol (gas) prices..

yes, they are working even with metpol (scotland yard london) to do surveilance on websites, Norfolks found loads of money for the helicopter, rigs are being confiscated left right and centre, and people are being sent to Crown in stead of magistrates court... also even HM Revenue and customs, the Council and food safety laws are being used against people..

Well yeah, but it's the skan lot that started most of the bloody riots. What are they doing now? Legal events in Yarmouth and all getting secruity/ first aid training to do legal TENs events!

I'm trying to wok out if I know you- being from Bury? I'm guessing you mean the !***** boys who are still doing wicked nights in studio and organised the Philosophers fair a few weeks back........

I'd stay in the US mate. Last year everytime a rig went out the riot police were out in force. East anglia seriously needs a cooling off period......

people are going towards TENS events (£21 for a license for 500 people, a very recent thing) and as Binge said trying to learn proper event management skills what they should have already been applying anyway whether or not the event was licensed.

Losing a rig friends have spent hours building and/or people losing their liberty isn't a matter to be taken lightly. Both have happened to young friends of mine very recently, with more at risk of doing time.

OK rigs can be replaced but its often done by selling drugs, which leads to more people either getting into patterns of problematic use, or getting caught and sent to jail for dealing.

And yes British prisons aren't that harsh (for instance people regularly walk out of "holiday bay" near me, and then when they find themselves homeless and hungry and on the run in Ipswich walk straight back in! )

but - its still shit and boring being in the can, and as you know its a small world and people have long memories, I've known local companies refuse interviews for jobs because they've done a background check on someone and found they've done time and 66% of employers will never employ someone whose been in prison, even for a relatively trivial offence

worst of all the charges most rave crew people will be done for would signify a culture of disobedience and dishonesty - your time inside is short, but outside you could be doing a life sentence...

you definately have a point, i just started thinking about it though and those are pretty much the same penalties we've had out here for the undergrounds for years. thats why its really hard to find them but when they get busted they get busted hard. people still do it though :-/
